LIMIT YOUR LIMITATIONS
1 Sam 17:37-51
This is a story we all are familiar with: 'David and Goliath'.
Goliath thought David was too small for him, even the Israelis looked at Goliath and said, "he is too big to hit" but David thought Goliath was too big to miss.
Our limitations are like giants. They come at us in all shapes and sizes. Their names are familiar to us as Goliath's: lust, fear, suffering, shame, etc. Only you know the giants who come against you.
You've got to know how to limit your limitations. Maybe you only have a few stones and a slingshot. But, with hearts ablaze with the Holyspirit, you can trample on giants.
King Saul was a mighty warrior but he was a bigman with a small heart. David had a heart bigger than all. For forty days the Jews sat around exaggerating the bigness of Goliath. After a month of fear talk, the giant must have grown bigger in their imaginations.
Giants never get smaller with time. But the issue should never be the size of the giant. Rather, the size of our God. In verse 45, David also knows that the battle isn't his to win. His confidence is his Almighty God.
Do not procrastinate, giants don't get smaller with time. Negative self talk is the mother of procrastination. David did not allow difficulty keep him from making history.
Is there a giant in your life? Some addiction or bad habit, bitterness, anger or some other giants. God is still the same all-powerful, all-wise and ever-present God.
Hold down those limitations now!
